The T. L. Wright Current River Boat Landing

Missouri's Current River is the most spring-fed of all the Ozark rivers and may be floated at almost any time of the year. The T.L. Wright Boat Landing, which adjoins Riverfront Park in downtown Doniphan, is open seven days a week and provides no-fee access to the Current River for motor boats, canoes, kayaks and tube floaters. The two-ramp boat launching facility provides easy river access via paved roads, with free parking for vehicles and boat trailers. Restroom facilities available. No swimming allowed.

The T. L. Wright Lumber Company donated this tract to the City of Doniphan to provide boating access to Current River.  A cooperative agreement with the Missouri Department of Conservation maintains this landing as the primary access for visitors to Current River.

Deer Leap Recreation Area

The Deer Leap Recreation Area is situated on the East bank of the Current River and provides primitive camping, a boat launch and floater access/tuber launch.

Deer Leap Campground has seven (7) campsites; each with a fire ring, table and lantern post. NO Water is available at this time due to flood damage to the campground, but there is a vault toilet

The Deer Leap Boat Ramp provides launching capabilities for motorized and non-motorized boats and parking for vehicles and boat trailers. There is a vault toilet, but no water service.

The Tuber Launch is temporarily being operated at the end of the campground, and is a popular put-in for floating the Current River. This access is also shared with outfitter/guides. No public parking is allowed in the launch area. Most private floaters take out below the bridge in Doniphan at the public boat landing, and outfitted floaters take out at the outfitter’s private launches in Doniphan. This Tube float takes about 5 hours. There is a $3.00 Fee for Parking.
